                          Congratulations to MADA Senior Lecturer, Daniel von Sturmer – @danielvonsturmer – winner of the coveted Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture.

                          Daniel’s work, Electric Light (facts/figures/federation square), uses light as a material to activate unnoticed features of the @federationsquare that inform and direct our experience.

                          Work from all of the Melbourne Prize finalists – including Daniel’s winning submission – can be viewed at Federation Square, Melbourne, 13—27 November 2017 and is illuminated nightly from 8.30pm.

                          The Ultrafridge 3000: A concept refrigeration tool that can be used for dieting or to avoid allergies (installation)

                          Cultivate is designed to create Food Culture and reduce food waste by exposing users to the lifecycle of vegetation. Through this exposure, we might think about the way we produce, consume and throw away food.

                          This is my semester long project and the end to my Industrial Design Degree. I’ve loved every moment of this year’s studio from the classes to the great people I’ve worked with. I wish there was more studio to enjoy but I look forward to what the future holds! .

                    Surface Design Diploma

                    What is Surface Design?

                    Surface Design is a form of commercial illustration. Put simply it is about learning how to create designs and then put them into technical repeat. The Surface Design Diploma teaches you how to create designs that are suitable for a wide variety of applications including homewares, textiles, paper products, fabrics and many other surfaces. It is a great skill for illustrators, graphic designers, or anyone looking to create their own range or range of products.

                    How can I become a Surface Designer?

                    The first part of your Diploma of Surface Design consists of the Certificate IV in Design (CUA40715). This teaches you the foundation skills needed to understand the elements and principles of colour and design. Then, the Diploma steps you through the specialised skills needed to be a successful Surface Designer.

                    CUA40715 Certificate IV in Design is the first step in this diploma before specialising. You can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in the forms of credits or a course waiver if you have like-for-like Units of Competency, skills and knowledge if you have already studied this either with iscd or at another college.
