Home office design ideas can be very helpful in that it allows a space to relax a convenient area to do work. Whether you’re creating a home office or redesigning one, there are many ideas out there for the DIY home office creator. Home offices will be different depending on size and space of the room that is the home office. A small home office can be just as effective as a large home office; a small space can be designed to be very functional with good organization. Things to consider when designing a home office are interior wall paint color scheme, office furniture ideas, computer desk space, storage, and lighting. The color scheme you choose is very important because you want something that you consider soothing and calm that will provide you with the proper work environment.

Interior Design Ideas

Color options could be cool colors such as blues, purples, and greens have been shown to have a calming effect; warm colors that make a space inviting such as muted reds, yellows, and oranges; whites can give an office a clean and open atmosphere; or neutrals such as earth tones can help your mind stay centered on work in your home office furniture collections. Office furniture is also important in that it will provide your home office with the proper space and storage that is needed. Desks can come in various sizes, small, large, long, or short. If you have a small home office you can get a corner desk unit with a lot of shelves to conserve space while also getting a lot of storage out of it. If you have a larger home office you can get a much larger desk to accommodate your needs.

L-desks can provide a lot of desk space to hold a computer as well as spread out paperwork and folders. If you have or need a lot of desk space you can get a large computer monitor to have a large screen to work from. If you are using a computer often in your home office, opening a lot of documents and web pages, two large monitors can be used to divide the screen and allow for better organization. There are numerous options to consider when selecting an office chair as well; if your home office is hard floors then a desk chair with wheels could be an option to allow for easy movement. For the carpeted home office, stationary chairs are more convenient. Furniture for storage is also very important when designing a home office. Shelving systems can provide for a lot of storage of books or necessary office supplies.

Interior Design Ideas

Shelves can also be used to hold pictures of family and friends to make the home office a welcoming and comforting place. For organization of important folders, files, and papers, filing cabinets can be a good choice to keep everything organized and neat, creating a more suitable work environment. There are also many options for lighting in the home office; if you prefer a very bright and illuminated environment you can have ceiling lighting that will illuminate the space. Small desk lamps are also a way to provide lighting and can add a decorative quality to your home office. You can decorate your home office with pictures of family and friends or hang paintings of landscape or other meaningful locations to not only add a decorative touch but also a welcoming feel.

If you have a large space to create a home office you can add a couch or a few arm chairs to accommodate guests, meet with others, or simply to sit down and read books or articles. Area rugs are also items that can add a decorative touch to your home office. Small home offices can be just as useful and functional as large home offices as long as storage and organization are factored into the design. Whether your redesigning a home office or building a new home office, there are many ideas that you can develop for this space.

Beauty Salon Home Design Photos

I love this wall cabinet, which might originally have been intended for books or CDs, but is perfect for stashing soft towels, rolled for that instant beauty salon aesthetic. Slot in a basket for cotton wool and other smaller essentials – and don’t forget that all-important Buddha statue. To keep your towels beauty spa soft, avoid fabric softener – which can have the opposite effect on towelling textiles – and try washing them with vinegar and baking soda.

We were scouting around for the various IDs and chanced upon U-Home Interior. U-Home provided us with a quotation which appealed to our concept ideas as well as our budget. We also made a comparison quotations with 3 other IDs with the same concept ideas, however we found that U-Home s quotation met our budget. The ID we worked with was very responsive and he was able to provide us with the ideas that we had envisioned for. Plus it was very comfortable working with him; easy-going kind of guy but gets his things done. U-Home went the extra mile to accommodate to our irregular timings as well as our vendor s and availability during the reno works.

Cindy, the interior designer from Posh Home, is very responsive and she is always within reach whenever we needed her. She would get back to us as soon as possible on all our queries. When we communicated our ideas to Cindy, she would listen and try her best to give us the things that we were after. After the renovation, we could still contact her for touch-ups and she is prompt in tending to our problems. Perhaps her subcontractors could be more mindful in making sure things are carried out properly but other than some small issues, we are happy to have engaged U-Home Interior for their services.

We were impressed with U-Home Interior’s service from the moment we went down to their showroom for a discussion. They took the extra step of providing us a comprehensive drawing instead of just rough sketches, and that helped us better visualise what they could propose to us. During the actual renovation itself, Mavis has been incredibly flexible to our requests where she would accommodate to the changes that we made along the way. On top of that, she would propose additional ideas to us from time to time whenever she came up with better ideas on how we can enhance our home designs. Mavis takes pride in her designs, and we really like the design that she has done for our home. 6 months time the line, Mavis remains professional and she is only a call away when we needed her help to do some touch-ups.

I researched online to look for interior designers and after comparing the design sketches by 3 companies, I liked the one which was done by U-Home the most. U-Home had some good reviews about them online, so I was compelled to engage them. Even though my renovation involves an overhaul of the house, the works were finished within a month’s time! Mavis, the interior designer, handled the renovation procedure really well. She was prompt to respond to any issues so that allowed me to have a peace of mind, rather than stressing over the renovation.

A Hamptons dream home

Recently, I posted about Hamptons House, the gorgeous homewares store devoted to all things Hamptons.

This week I m posting about the ultimate real-life Hamptons inspired house, in Sydney. You ll all be familiar with this beautiful home in Bellevue Hill, that I have shown before, in particular when I ve written about interior designer Lynda Kerry who helped with the interior design. You can see the posts here and here. The images from the H G article a few years ago have featured on blogs around the world and are constantly repinned on Pinterest.

So, I was thrilled to be given a tour of this breathtaking home in person, by the lovely owner Ange. It is every bit as gorgeous as it looks, even more so in real life. A heart stopping kind of gorgeousness that makes you stop and sigh. But apart from all this, it is a warm, welcoming and very functional family home. If ever there was a real-life Something s Gotta Give house in Australia, surely this is it! It exudes a relaxed elegance that is synonymous with that part of the American east coast.

The exciting news is that home is now on the market! I know, I know, how you could they bear to part with this magnificent home, but it made me feel better about leaving mine when I saw this believe me.

So if you always wondered what the rest of the house looks like here s the tour.

The house is painted a fresh white (Antique White USA used throughout house for interior and exterior), with gloss black shutters and front door. When you walk in the front gate this elegant courtyard is on the right. The beautiful vibrant pink bougainvillea looks stunning against the white walls and black roof.

The rear of the house shows the three storeys. The bottom floor which leads onto the rear garden and pool features an expansive kids playroom, underground climate controlled cellar, home theatre room, a fully equipped music studio and bathroom. The middle floor has all the living space, kitchen, laundry etc, and the top floor all the bedrooms. The little dormers you can see at the very top in the photo below are in the kids secret loft playroom which is accessed by drop-down ladder.

The original 1930s Georgian house was reinvented and expanded by architects Lawton Hurley with elegant parterre gardens and landscaping by William Dangar.

No doubt you re familiar with this image of the pool house and made the cover of H G and which was designed to mirror the architecture and style of the house. complete with matching dormer windows. The pool house has its own bathroom and can double as a guest suite. This was the inspiration for our pool cabana, although I never got around to the making the interior quite as stylish as this. The striped rug is from West Elm .

The kitchen is perfection. Honed black granite benchtops contrast with the beautiful hand-painted white shaker style cabinets, with black butt hinges and pull handles. The blacksplash features a small white subway tile and there is a generous ceramic butler s sink. The Windsor chairs around the dining table and at the island were custom made. The bamboo blinds add a typical classic American touch, along with those striking nickel pendant lights from Restoration Hardware. The kitchen tapware is El Capitan from Nicolazzi. All other tapware from Albert Adams.

The family room below adjoins the kitchen area and is part of the main open plan living space. It is a sea of soft blues, creams, with dark timber and black accents. The pretty blue floral linen on the armchairs and cushions is called Matisse from Bennison Fabrics.. The sofas and dining nook cushions are upholstered in Linara Duck Egg by Romo. The stunning kitchen pendants are from Restoration Hardware. All other lights were imported from Limehouse Lighting. The custom timber floors are American Oak with a bevelled edge to accentuate the wide boards, and stained in a dark chocolate custom mix.

The gorgeous blue striped rug (remember the Something s Gotta Give! living room rug) was sourced by Ange from Graham Geddes Antiques in Melbourne, after a year long search. The cabinetry either side of the double fronted fireplace has timber paneling on the back and echoes the design of the kitchen. It s artfully filled with books, woven baskets, blue and white ginger jars, shells and coral.

The family uses the dining nook off the kitchen in cooler inclement weather, but mostly use the outdoor room (below). This space features its own smaller kitchen space and built-in BBQ, with cafe heaters mounted to the ceiling, and sturdy automated clear plastic shade and roller door that keep the elements out. The room can be closed off with sliding doors that fold behind the cream curtains of the family room. I love all the transom windows in this house. The architectural details are so well considered.

The library and sitting room adjoin the family room. The fireplace is utilised by both rooms, although this one features the beautiful textural stonework. The cabinetry in the home is such an asset, both for function and aesthetics. There are lots of generous sisal rugs throughout the house.

The red floral fabric on the armchairs in the library is Eversfield Toile by Stroheim with an antique red linen ticking on the armchairs in the sitting room.

This amazing travertine lined ensuite bathroom has two distinct areas a wet and a dry room. There are 8 bathrooms in the house, all similarly designed and using similar materials and finishes.

The home theatre is a great space for all the family to relax and watch TV in air-conditioned comfort. The kids playroom on the ground floor features a purpose-built mini stage for the kids to put on shows, a giant table built at kid-friendly height for craft and games complete with miniature wicker armchairs. The pink panels on the back wall are the very handy and stylish Chat Board. a Danish design. The boards are made of magnetic glass which can be drawn on like a whiteboard, but is magnetic as well. Great idea for keeping families organised too.

The family includes three young girls, who all have beautiful girly bedrooms, with lots of white timber wall paneling, stunning raked ceilings, bay windows, the prettiest wallpaper, soft furnishings and decorative accessories. Each with their own ensuite.

And of course the master bedroom is a beautifully serene sea of blue and white, the walls painted the most heavenly shade with matching striped and floral upholstery fabric.

Isn t it just perfection and wonderful inspiration. Such a lovely, warm and inviting family home, with a casual elegance and classically American. Ticks all the right boxes for me.

The house is open by appointment only through Sotheby s Realty Sydney here .

If you were thinking of getting a king-size bed, but a queen would give you more room for a dresser and sitting area, now is the time to make the call about what is most important to you. Plug your measurements into an online tool (search for “free floor plan tool”) or make a sketch on paper and play around with potential furniture arrangements. It’s much easier to move or swap out furniture on paper or onscreen than in real life — so do some virtual lifting before you plunk your money down on new stuff.

Sedge – (Carex spp) Sedges feature grasslike leaves and grow in clumps, and are noted for their wide range of growing requirements. Sedges, depending upon their variety, come in many sizes and textures, and grow in a number of different kinds of soils and in virtually every USDA hardiness zone. You can leave sedge unmowed for a taller, more meadow-like look, or mow it a few times a year to maintain more of a lawn look.

Mobile Home Decorating

Mobile homes have always been an affordable alternative solution to purchasing a traditional home. Although affordable, decorating a mobile home could prove to be a challenge due to the limited space inside. Here are a few solutions to help overcome this challenge.

Painting

Painting the interior of the mobile home is a fast and easy way to make the interior look bigger. Painting with lighter colors (yellows, light blues, light green) makes the inside of the home look bigger. This is recommended because of the limited size of the mobile home. If your mobile home is older, pre-1990, then more than likely it was manufactured with wood paneling. Some models were made with milk stained panels, while a majority of others where manufactured with walnut dark brown stain. These dark panels can be painted a lighter color to help increase the apparent size of the room.

Bathroom

Redoing the bathroom may be an easy and quick project. In most mobile homes, the bathrooms, can be pretty cramped so designing it to be visually appealing with reduce some of the non favorable feeling roused by such a small space. When taking on this task, keep in mind of your likes and dislikes. It is recommended to paint your bathroom a brighter color to make it look bigger as well. This is a good idea considering the relative size of this room in comparison to traditional homes.

Windows

Windows need attention too. Maybe throw on a set of new curtains and specially fitted blinds. Try to go along with the brighter inside look when choosing the curtains. White tends to be a favorite, also light yellows and creams.

Making the Space Look Larger

Place a large horizontal mirror on a side wall that is unoccupied. Mirrors help make the room appear larger than it actually is. Mirrors give the room a 3 dimensional look and is highly favored by most interior decorators.

Cabinets

If your mobile home needs cabinet re-facing, you could either tackle this task yourself or hire a professional to do it for you. Either way, giving your cabinets a facelift can dramatically change the appearance of your home. Shop around for the styles that you prefer best and make sure the go along with your color scheme. Light oak and honey colors are nice as well as oil stained cabinets. But if you prefer not to go do the road of cabinet re-facing, a simple coat or two of white paint will do nicely to giving the cabinets a fresh new look.
