I was at an art fair on Las Olas recently and booth after booth was selling spectacular oil paintings. I noticed how “perfect” they were, so I went in for a very close look. Wow — nobody else noticed, but these were digital paintings — and they were flying off the shelf at anywhere from $200 to $20,000. Hello!
Then I get this note from Akvis and I’m thinking. maybe I ought to give up this internet publishing and sell oil paintings in Key West. It would probably pay for my retirement! May 18, 2017

For architectural style – To enhance the architectural features of a space and complement the style of this bathroom, the French Interior Design Studio selected a mirror that had undertones of Art Deco style. The mirror, along with the patterned tile in the shower recess and the wall light, was enough to provide the ambience of this period’s architecture.

the predominant decorative art style of the 1920s and 1930s, characterized by precise and boldly delineated geometric shapes and strong colours. There’s nothing timid about this style, which radiates flash and dazzle. Seductive curves mingle with razor-sharp corners, while posh materials and shiny finishes emit an air of luxury. At the same time, art deco furnishings and surfaces have a certain straightforwardness about them; there’s little excess or frippery. Unusual materials, such as ebony an Shammee

The Nail Spa – Quintessentially Nailed to Precision

Recently, I had the opportunity to try a manicure treatment at The Nail Spa in one of their ten locations across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This boutique spa offers positive energy, a tension eliminatingatmosphere and pristine services with a warm smile.

As an Interior Designer, the idea of a symmetrically aligned and meticulously organized spa is something we only see in design concepts. At The Nail Spa, however, the design was flawlessly executed and brought to life. The mood of the spa is so inviting, and the interior crisp and clean, that you can’t help notice the contemporary, sophisticated, and refined design style.

Well lit acrylic shelves display ing exclusive spa products welcome you at the Reception area. The Nail Spa interior displays a mix of mediums with wooden trim at the top of the walls, funky nail polish holders that spa n from the ceiling to the floor, and colorful towel blocks that provide visual stimulation. This is further complimented by proportionally placed focal points of interest where the eye leads from stations of wavy acrylic panels to bold statements of vivid glass chrome walls in a rich deep hue of violet. Modern seating arrangements and ample service stations entertain and soak tired feet in atension releasing foot soak. A well planned minimalistic layout, keeping flow in mind, is one reason why the spa managed to look picture perfect able to accommodate large amounts of circulation without disrupting the tranquility. Spa rooms offered calming privacy with perfect ambiance for relaxation and one of my favorite features was the starry night illusion on the ceiling created using optical fibers. One distinguishing factor was the temperature of the spa was comfortable for clients with their feet in water or enjoying other spa treatments.

I am fascinated by the proprietor’s ability to maintain exceptionally high standards of perfection, all in style. Needless to say, I’ll be returning again to this slice of heaven soon.

Design for Leisure – Spa Design, Consultancy and Construction

Repairs and Remodelling

Ever aware of the need to effectively repair and remodel spa facilities, Design for Leisure can offer many solutions using the cutting edge products and technology being used to create the latest and greatest new spas around the globe.

We can cure leaking steam rooms, showers and pools often with the simple application of our waterproof lining systems manufactured by our partners Lux Elements. This can often be done using existing structures as long as they are still sound and overlaying existing tiled finishes, even if they are leaking or porous, because we fit a completely new waterproof skin to the structure, which is left ready to receive a new decorative tile or stone finish. We can dress to existing drains and in most cases, even doors can be preserved as long as they are not leaking as well.

Caring for the environment should be the responsibility of everyone, but saving energy has bi-products to the bottom line as well.

Intelligent Spas are the future, microprocessors can control every aspect of the modern thermal suite and the costs of technology are becoming ever more affordable and the benefits of investment easier to see and faster to harvest. Some of the ways a spa can benefit are outlined below:

  • Serviceable Steam Generators – all parts are serviceable or replaceable, no built in obsolescence of a cheap machine accepting it will have a life of only a few years, but buying equipment for the life of the spa is the way forward.
  • Serviceable equipment removes the disappointment of guests faced with Out of Order signs, as routine, preventative maintenance ensures equipment runs and runs – even in hard water areas, calcification of steam equipment can be avoided, ensuring the equipment runs efficiently and cost effectively, where it just boils water, not heats rocks!
  • Control systems that are constantly monitoring temperature and adjusting equipment output accordingly are vital, especially for spas with peaks and troughs in usage patterns.
  • Control systems with remote displays or full integration into Building Management Systems are vital to energy efficiency.
  • Ice fountains that produce ice on demand, rather than just topping up a bowl, and letting it melt away throughout quiet periods not only save energy, but prolong the active life of the equipment.
  • Automatic essence dosing systems controlled by steam generators that only operate when steam is being produced, ensuring the perfect atmosphere for bathers, but saving on waste.
  • Sauna stoves and steam generators that have power factor adjustments ensuring they can be customised to the exact size of the cabin in which they are sited.
  • Construction systems with known and provable U/R values to ensure the heat stays in the cabin where it belongs and not heating up the rest of the building
  • Sauna conversions to fit underbench heaters to reduce damage by guests who have a heavy hand with the sauna bucket, not to mention being careless with towels on exposed stoves, or the benefits of maximising bather space, saving on real estate at the same time as enhancing the guest experience.
  • Our solutions can often be specified remotely and equipment and installation instructions supplied for fitting by local tradesmen or facilities departments

IT IS TIME TO CHANGE YOUR WAY OF THINKING, STOP REPLACING OLD WITH NEW AND START THINKING OF HOW YOU CAN MAKE IT BETTER, BETTER FOR THE GUEST, BETTER FOR YOUR BUSINESS AND BETTER FOR THE PLANET

Equipment, Spares, Sales and Support

In our commitment to support our clients, we have stocking depots in Austin, Texas and Cancun, Mexico serving Continental North America, distribution points in the UK and Germany serving Europe and one in Dubai serving the GCC region.
