#sustainable interior design
Green design is design that goes beyond being just efficient, attractive, on time and on budget. It is a design that cares about how such goals are achieved, about its effect on people and on the environment. An environmentally responsible professional makes a commitment to constantly try to find ways to diminish design’s impact on the world around us. It is also a smart way of doing business: sustainable design is the fastest growing segment of our industry. Sustainable Suite Design Competition
ASID, in conjunction with USGBC and NEWH, co-sponsored the Sustainable Suite design competition to help drive sustainable design practices in the hospitality industry.
The competition demonstrated that a high performance, energy-efficient suite can also be aesthetically pleasing and enhance guest experience.
The winning design came from the team of destination design firm WATG and IDEO, a design and innovation consulting company. It was built as a model guest room to be presented as an educational display for the design industry, hotel owners, and corporate travel executives. The Sustainable Suite was unveiled at the HDExpo in Las Vegas, NV in May 2010.
