MS in Real Estate Curriculum
The Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) curriculum offers real estate theory to practice knowledge, exposure to related finance, asset management, development, and specific training.
The program may be completed full-time within one calendar year or part-time within two years.
The MSRE program requires completion of 30 credit hours composed of 21 credit hours of required core course and 9 credit hours of electives.
Today’s market is focused on the global and financial aspects of real estate. Kogod’s faculty and Real Estate Advisory Council are draft the MSRE curriculum current to reflect changing industry regulations, money markets, as well as political influences.
The MSRE offers cutting-edge training in underwriting and financial modeling including Argus, financial analysis, development, and sustainability, including LEED.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT REAL ESTATE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
International Students may participate in an internship program as a course elective for credit. Students are placed with a local real estate firm to gain experience with the U.S. real estate industry. Prior to applying for the internship program, students are required to complete all MSRE core courses in good standing and obtain approval from the program director.
Certifications through MSRE
Kogod’s MSRE program has partnered with several institutions for skill specific certifications. Through MSRE curriculum, Kogod students can bypass many of the necessary courses needed to become a Member of the Appraisal Institute, and a Certified Property Manager.
Kogod is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Fast-Track School. CCIM is a high distinction in the commercial and investment real estate industry. As a Fast-Track School, students satisfy three of the four CCIM course requirements at Kogod. Students can apply for CCIM designation upon completion of the program.
The Kogod MSRE program is a university partner of the Institute of Real Estate Management. Students can satisfy all educational course requirements towards a Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation.
Additionally, the MSRE is a partner of the Appraisal Institute. one of only eight in the country. Students can satisfy up to ten course requirements towards a distinguished Member of the Appraisal Institute designation. The Appraisal Institute is the premiere organization for appraisers and valuation professionals to advance professionalism and ethics, global standards, methodologies, and practices through the professional development of property economics worldwide.
Unique to the MSRE, the core curriculum focuses on multiple areas and components of the industry.

Students may choose to focus their degree with a real estate or finance track.
For the real estate business track. Any four (4) from among all the courses listed below may be taken.
For the finance track. Financial Management and an additional 3 courses in bold below must be taken*.
